Leather and lace don’t strike sparks. Or do they?
It’s Valentine’s Day, but Macy Rodgers isn’t feeling the love. Aside from a torrid, one-night fling in a backseat a few months back, her love life has been sorely lacking, but fortunately she has devious friends who feel like playing Cupid. Wouldn’t they be shocked to learn that the match they’ve made for her is the same one that steamed up the back of that ’69 GTO…
Seth “Ghost” Warren has just returned to town after an extended absence. Between his grandmother’s failing health, his job as a tattoo artist, his band’s gigs, and a crazy ex that won’t leave him alone, he’s stretched thin. Cautious cowgirl Macy is the last thing he needs thrown into the mix.
She’s all country, he’s all heavy metal—and Macy knows that if anyone can propel her out of her rut, it’s Seth. But when their worlds collide, it’s anyone guess if they’ll survive with their hearts intact.
Warning: Contains explicit sex, graphic language, road trips, troublemaking exes, emotional baggage, and an unconventional but exceptionally hot hero tatted and pierced for your pleasure…
Absolutely. Freakin. Loved. This!!! I loved Unleashed and Rock Me, but I loved this even more! I don’t even know where to start. Usually, I weigh up what I liked about a book and then pick out things that annoyed or frustrated me… but I can’t think of anything I didn’t like about Leave Me Breathless.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like Macy, based purely on my assumptions from Rock Me. But I was completely wrong. For starters, I’ve ridden horses since I was three, so she instantly had points in my book for her love of riding. I’ve also had confidence crushing falls and I know how much it crushes you in every way imaginable, if riding has been something that has defined you throughout your life. I also loved her ballsy side! The way she dealt with Raina, for example, was brilliant.
“Stay. The fuck. Away from him. I might look like a wimpy rich bitch, Raina, but I only look that. I know people. I’ve wrestled animals bigger than you. And I can shoot.”
“You. Talked to Raina.”
“And there was no bloodshed, flyring fur, ER visits…?”
“I resent the implication that i can’t conduct myself in a civil manner.”
“I’m implying that Raina can’t conduct herself-”
“Oh, she took a swing, I threatened to shoot her… typical girl stuff.”
“Holy shit. You gotta be fucking with me.”
And then there’s Ghost/Seth. Oh how adorable is he?! I was completely bowled over by his love and devotion for his Nana. So so cute. And I can’t even begin to explain how hot he is! *groan* From the get go, the sexual chemistry in this book is completely mind blowing! Not to mention the piercing, the positions, Macy’s introduction to the G-spot… and more, which all come later on. It was gooooood!
He caught her wrist and pulled her until she was straddling him. His hand smoothed down the outside of her right thigh. “Thank you for wearing a skirt tonight. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
One thing about these angsty romance books that pisses me off is when the characters create problems in their own mind and you just want to bang their heads together. But there was none of that in Leave Me Breathless. The characters had real issues to deal with, clouding their mind, getting in the way, etc. and the emotions felt real, not fabricated for the sake of book drama.
It was also great to see more of Candace and Brian. I hope we get to witness more in the future. I’d love to read about their HEA.
“You gonna marry her? This is the one out of seven billion?”
“It is. And I am. I’ve got to. It’s like…sometimes…”
“Sometimes I think I’m not going to make it another day without getting a ring on that girl’s finger and changing her fucking last name from theirs to mine. I’m going to spend the rest of my life with her, and I want it to start yesterday.”
In my opinion this was Cherrie Lynn’s best book to date. Superbly impressed and can’t wait for more!
